Fluidmotion 6M adder Instructions for the 4 Element To use the 6M element the lengths for the first 6m segment (50.0 Mhz) must be changed. Adding the 6M element makes a very good antenna between the frequencies of 50 to 50.5Mhz in the Normal Direction. Unfortunately the 180 mode will not work with the passive element. To do this: Mount the new 110.5 inch element 6m element 35.75 inches from Center to the Center of the Driven element tube, between the driven and the Mast. Mount the new 104.5 inch element 6m element 120 inches from it's Center to the Center of the Director #1 element tube. The controller values will have to be changed (Director1 = 104.6, Director2 = 100.4, Reflector = 111.7, The Driven will have to be adjusted for the best SWR) to operate on 6M. First select Ham mode. Select segment one of 6M (50.0Mhz) using the 6M band select button. Make sure the 180 and Bi-dir LEDs are Off (normal mode). Enter the Create Antenna mode in the setup menu. Change the existing element lengths to the values shown below. Set DIR1 = 105.0 - Use the 180 button to switch beteen dir1 and 2 Set DIR2 = 98.8 Set REF = 111.6 Set DVR = adjust for the best SWR, some where around 108 Select Done and Save and exit Setup menu back to Ham Mode. When using 6M select the first Normal Direction Segment in ham mode then adjust the frequency up to the desired frequency. It will also work using the transceiver interface in general coverage mode as long as you have the normal direction selected. To avoid possible confusion you may want to enter the same values for both the 180 and Bid modes so it will work no matter which mode you are in. The antenna is centered on the lower part of 6M (50.0 MHz to 50.4 Mhz). As you go higher in the band the gain and F/B starts to slowly drop off and the VSWR will climb to about 1.5:1. Have fun on the Magic Band! 4/21/05
